Cow Lane Bridge, Reading - New Structure to Move in Place
The two narrow arches at Cow Lane, Reading are notorious bottlenecks. During Christmas and January, Network Rail will replace the first of the two Cow Lane bridges with a new structure that will make way for two lanes of traffic, a cycle path and pavement -- helping reduce congestion. Work is expected to finish on 30 January 2012. Work to the second bridge will finish in 2015, when motorists will feel the full benefit of the project.

Bridge replacement in Reading
This time-lapse video captures Network Rail's successful operation to replace a bridge on Cow Lane in Reading. The old narrow bridge, which contributed to traffic problems, was demolished and a new structure lifted into place between Christmas Eve and 27 December 2011. Crowds watched a specialised 66-axle machine manoeuvre the new bridge into place. Cow Lane will be closed until 30 January while work continues to finish two new carriageways, a cycle path and footpath under the bridge. Diversions are in place until then.

Eurostar - London 2012 Olympics
Lord Sebastian Coe, Olympian Colin Jackson CBE and UK Minister for Sport and the Olympics Hugh Robertson joined Eurostar in welcoming hundreds of Olympic fans and athletes from across Europe to London's St Pancras International station (27 July 2011) as the 2012 host city marks the start of the 'One Year To Go' celebrations. Over the last few months, thousands of Olympic fans have entered competitions to win the chance to be part of Eurostar's 'One Year To Go' celebrations. Arriving from countries including France, and Belgium, competition winners and athletes were joined by winners from the UK and were greeted by Seb Coe and Colin Jackson joining them in having their foot prints cast in clay as they symbolically mark the first steps on the way to the 2012 Games. Eurostar Adds More Cities to Travel Roster
"Eurostar train lines will add major cities to its roster of stops, reports the Telegraph Wednesday. Since 1994, Eurostar trains have been running to Paris and Brussels, and the line will now add Amsterdam and Geneva to its roster. The additions come as Europe's high speed rail network gets ready for an overhaul. Ten new trains and the refurbishment of Eurostar's current fleet will reportedly cost 700 million British pounds."
