Cow Lane Bridge, Reading - New Structure to Move in Place
The two narrow arches at Cow Lane, Reading are notorious bottlenecks. During Christmas and January, Network Rail will replace the first of the two Cow Lane bridges with a new structure that will make way for two lanes of traffic, a cycle path and pavement -- helping reduce congestion. Work is expected to finish on 30 January 2012. Work to the second bridge will finish in 2015, when motorists will feel the full benefit of the project.

Bridge replacement in Reading
This time-lapse video captures Network Rail's successful operation to replace a bridge on Cow Lane in Reading. The old narrow bridge, which contributed to traffic problems, was demolished and a new structure lifted into place between Christmas Eve and 27 December 2011. Crowds watched a specialised 66-axle machine manoeuvre the new bridge into place. Cow Lane will be closed until 30 January while work continues to finish two new carriageways, a cycle path and footpath under the bridge. Diversions are in place until then.

Eurostar - London 2012 Olympics
Lord Sebastian Coe, Olympian Colin Jackson CBE and UK Minister for Sport and the Olympics Hugh Robertson joined Eurostar in welcoming hundreds of Olympic fans and athletes from across Europe to London's St Pancras International station (27 July 2011) as the 2012 host city marks the start of the 'One Year To Go' celebrations. Over the last few months, thousands of Olympic fans have entered competitions to win the chance to be part of Eurostar's 'One Year To Go' celebrations. Arriving from countries including France, and Belgium, competition winners and athletes were joined by winners from the UK and were greeted by Seb Coe and Colin Jackson joining them in having their foot prints cast in clay as they symbolically mark the first steps on the way to the 2012 Games. Following a welcome speeches from Seb Coe and the Olympic Minister, Hugh Robertson, winners were then transported across London to a celebration lunch held at an iconic London restaurant with stunning views over the Olym

Driver Story - Samaritans and Network Rail Partnership
TRAIN DRIVER Watch East Midlands Train Driver Paul Trigwell’s vodcast. Paul experienced a suicide whilst driving a train and through East Midlands Trains, he has been assisting Samaritans in development of training courses and education materials for the National Suicide Prevention Programme. He has openly shared his experiences in order to help ensure the work that is being undertaken is tailored to a drivers needs. Paul received a highly commended Commendation at the National Rail Awards in September, for his Outstanding Personal Contribution to work in this field.

National Garden Railway Show 2012
The National Garden Railway Show takes place on Saturday 31st March 2012 at the Peterborough Arena. It's the largest annual exhibition in the UK featuring layouts and suppliers of live steam and electric garden railways. The show is produced by the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers www.16mm.org.uk This is the first year that the show has taken place at the new venue in Peterborough, so the video is illustrated with clips taken at other events including Warley, Elsecar and llanfair. See some of the show's layouts in action at these events including "Dixon Green" which will be available for Junior Members to run their locos on and "Mount Dowd" which will be adopting the identity "Felin Fawr" as part of the shows Penrhyn theme and will be available for members to run their stock on - see the show web pages for full details.
